After 92 years Gloria has put down the pen and notebook and left us to reflect on her life and her poetry.
She passed away peacefully at around 7.20 Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021 at the Mater Private Hospital in Brisbane.
A recent series of falls successively weakened her and left her in great pain and effectively bedridden. This led to a very steep decline in her overall health in the couple of weeks prior to her death.
A keen observer of the human condition and always clever with words, it was inevitable that Gloria would document events, large and small, through her poetry.
Having built up a reputation among friends and those she came into contact with, she was often asked to write a poem for a cause or a person, but she was at her best when reflecting on her own life and all its twists and turns, highs and lows.
