What’shername?

Octogenarian is a term that I hate

Along with its mate geriatric;

And if anyone ever applies them to me

I know I will do something drastic.

Over the hill is another I loathe,

And while I’m about it, old timer.

It makes me think of an antique clock-

Especially one that’s a chimer.

I can tolerate senior citizen,

Although it’s a shade too formal;

But still, it has a touch of respect,

And doesn’t denote the abnormal.

So how would I like to be known, you may ask,

Do I have a title, or fame?

Well, just in a while, could you manage a smile,

And call me by my Christian name?
