What is Love?

What is love? The answer’s in a letter of St. Paul

Love has so many attributes that I won’t list them all,

But the very first of these springs readily to mind –

Above all else, remember – “Love is patient, love is kind”.

After we take those first few faltering steps

On the journey of our life,

We travel on our own

‘Til we become a husband or a wife.

Since none of us is perfect, with one or two exceptions,

It isn’t always easy to follow new directions.

Patience always smooths the way

Should the journey become rough,

Of this virtue one can simply never have enough.

And we’ve all heard that love I blind,

But it’s no trouble to be kind,

To be tender when the goings really tough.

“Love never fails”, and if some shadows fall,

Take some time, and be enlightened

By the letter of St. Paul.
