Train Ride

I thought that I would take a trip

By train, to West Australia.

I paid the fare, and then went home

To choose the right regalia.

Alas, I found, to my chagrin

That in the cabin I’d be in

There was neither shower nor loo,

O, woe was me, what could I do?

For, if staggering out of bed at night

I could get something of a fright

As the train was swaying side to side

Into a loo I could not glide.

If someone were ahead of me

There could be a catastrophe.

I didn’t want to take a chance

And so I gave a second glance

To see could I myself avail

Of a better cabin on the rail.

Of course I could; spend much more cash,

And even though it feels quite rash

The deed is done; although I’m broke

One day I will go up in smoke.

Before I go I’ll have some fun –

One never can please everyone.

If this decision doesn’t please –

Well then, my dears, it’s just tough cheese.
