The Carnival of Flowers

We went to Toowoomba to see lovely flowers

And trudged round about for hours and hours.

Unlike us, the flowers were all out in bloom –

We became tired, and were ready to swoon.

At lunchtime we all had to sit on the grass –

That wasn’t so bad at first, but alas,

When we tried to get up it wasn’t so easy,

Especially when some of us felt rather queasy.

Flowers all massed were in fragrant profusion,

But there was a journey that led to confusion –

A trip in a train, full of kids who were screaming.

That didn’t allow for a spell of sweet dreaming.

When finally we were all ready to drop

We headed for home, but came to a stop

When we were ejected at the top of a hill.

Will we go again touring? No, we never will –

(Not with that crowd!)
