Super Super

I hear the pollies had a raise,

I don’t begrudge them that

They work so hard.

Behind a desk in George Street

Or flying round the State –

Life must be hell, they’re always on their guard.

My income isn’t equal to the increase in their pay,

But, what the heck, I have enough

To get me through each day

And even some left over, I’m a happy little soul,

And I have had an increase too,

So let the good times roll!

My raise in super may be seen as sheer extravagance,

But I am really pleased as Punch –

Although it couldn’t pay for lunch –

It makes me want to dance.

Four dollars may not seem a lot.

If you must know, that’s what I’ve got.
