Sharing Space With Kangaroos

Sharing space with kangaroos
I think I’ll go and change my shoes

In case one should come calling.
For I observed, one sunny morn
A roo upon my neighbour’s lawn -
A sight that was enthralling.

I treated him with deference
And hoped he wouldn’t hop the fence.
It pays to be most courteous
To those who share this land with us

And to observe, with utmost rigour
The fact that they are - simply - bigger.
Not everyone shares my delight
In keeping kangaroos in sight.

But as they have been here forever
Pre-dating Captain Cook’s Endeavour
We’ll stay alert and be quite nimble
While living with this Aussie symbol.
