‘With all my worldly goods I thee endow’
These were the words you spoke.
It made me want to laugh out loud-
It had to be a joke.
But that was fifty years ago
And times were different then
Our currency was LSD
We’d hardly heard of yen.
But worldly goods came bit by bit
And so did children four
When two of them arrived at once
Well, who could ask for more?
Like every other married pair
We’ve had our joy and strife
But on the whole, I have to say
It’s been a lovely life.
We’ve travelled far across the globe
Yes, even to Siberia
Although at times that trip brought on
Some bouts of mild hysteria.
Now, as we drive along life’s road
Foot firmly on the pedal
For all that love and care bestowed
You do deserve this medal!
