Cake Mixer

My electric mixer was past its prime, I thought I'd buy another.

My daughter and I then set out, a replacement to discover.

"There is a good one down at Aldi's", my lovely daughter said,

So we set forth in expectation, quite sure we'd be ahead

In our quest for the very thing that I'd be sure to buy,

But it was nowhere to be seen - It was enough to make me cry.

Another mixer was for sale, but my ideal was so much higher,

So off we went to a different store, to satisfy my desire.

Thus, I bought a quite expensive piece, but when we brought it home

I found it would be too heavy, enough to make me moan.

Now I have a dear granddaughter who'll be moving south quite soon,

So I have given her this mixer, and she is over the moon.

Very soon I retraced my steps to the local Aldi store,

And bought the other mixer to perform my baking chore.

I read through the directions, not closely enough, as it turned out

For by the time I'd absorbed them, I coul have handed out a clout

To whoever had designed this thing, it was so complicated,

But at last all came together, I was feeling quite elated.

By the time a cake was made, my enthusiasm began to fade -

For I was ready just to drop,

Whyever did I have to shop?

Now I've had another trip to Aldi's, and found to my surprise

The mixer that I first wanted was there before my eyes.

Oh dear, too bad, the die is cast.

Will this new mixer work and last

As long as I do, who can tell?

I do not care, that's just as well.
