It's bad enough when we adopt
American pronunciation,
By and large it is a constant source
Of downright irritation.
But when it comes to euphemism
that really brings on pessimism.
When travelling via aircraft
Soon the hostess takes the floor
To demonstrate the safety drill -
We've seen it all before.
Now "No smoking on the plane" -
None of us would dare complain -
"Or in the bathroom" - I ask you,
Why couldn't she just say "the loo",
Or "toilet" even "lavatory"?
For a bath I'm sure I will not see.
On flights that cater for the mob,
And I am definitely no snob,
Even so, it could be just as funny
If she used that Aussie term "the dunny".
