There are many holy places in great cities of the world
In cathedrals, that are symphonies in stone
And in little rustic churches where the humble people pray
For holiness is judged by God alone.
In temples and in synagogues and mosques of brilliant hue
Many different faiths give honour to their God
While from every corner of the globe the countless pilgrims come
To walk the dusty roads that Jesus trod.
But for all the wondrous splendour of the buildings made by man
And the beauty of their priceless works of art
The holiest place by far where the Lord of all can dwell
Is found within a pure and loving heart.
