Happy Birthday Times Ten

I'd sent him a cheque for his birthday,

For he had reached three score and ten.

To mark the occasion a hundred bucks went,

Imagine my astonishment when

A bank statement arrived, instead of a ton

It was showing a thousand, that would have been fun

For somebody other than me

With a thousand dollars to go on a spree.

Off went alarm bells and telephone calls -

It's just as well that ears aren't on walls

For those same walls would be coloured quite blue

If they heard the words that throgh my mind flew.

Now it appears a machine made an error

Causing one person a moment of terror.

I tell you truly, it isn't a joke

When you think that now you are quite stony broke.
