Exercises start at nine
We stand before our leader
Who shows us how to bend and stretch -
Though sometimes we don’t heed her.
Some of us are young and slim
And some of us are not.
Some of us are quite fatigued
From marching on the spot.
Some of us are dressed in shorts
And some in leotards,
Some are ready to collapse
Just like a pack of cards.
After we have used our weights
We get down on the floor
We kick and roll and strain a lot
Our muscles scream ‘no more’!
But when I’m asked ‘why exercise,
For it won’t make you wealthy?’
I simply sigh (and roll my eyes)
‘I just want to die healthy!’
