It was such a lovely April day
So many years ago
When I walked down the aisle to you,
You took my hand, I trembled so.
We were so young, and so in love
We couldn’t dream what life would hold,
We didn’t even contemplate
That one day we would both grow old.
Now time has taken care of that
And so we face the awful truth
When in the looking glass we see
It’s gone for good, that bloom of youth.
The world has changed, along with us,
And even love is not the same,
For what was once a dancing fire
Is now a sure and steady flame.
We thank the Lord for all our blessings,
For family, friends and joy and laughter
For sixty years, we truly say
We have been ‘happy, ever after.’
