Lord, today we celebrate Queensland Day

We thank you for the beautiful environment in which we live.

We pray, not just as Queenslanders,

but as Australians who are privileged to share this vast and diverse State.

We praise you for the wonders of your Creation,

from the Granite Belt in the south to the rain forests of the north;

for the boundless plains, the mountain ranges,

and the ocean that defines our coastline.

We pray for those who settle and work this land,

and we ask forgiveness

for the many wrongs inflicted upon our aboriginal people

We pray that we will always be sensitive

to the hopes and dreams of our fellow citizens,

and we make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen
